finally got the arowana for 29 bucks, from LFS, he seems to be happy right now, its been 2 days.
the lfs has black arowana, african and jardini as well, pretty much all kind of arowana except the asian.
i was suprised they wanted 289 freaking bucks for that approx 12" black aro so i settled with juvie silver
he is about 5-6" right now and already ate my jumbo neons (2 of them), the neons are the test tank fish (sacrificial fish)
i know im going to need bigger tank within 2-4 months..
he lives in 20 gallon long style tank for now with greyish and also white senegal bichirs, which are 3".
i bought him pellet food but he spitted it out infront of my face!!
now im worries if i have to feed him the jumbo neon as his juvie stage..that thing is expensive LOL

You do realize you're going to need a much larger tank immediately... right?

yes i do and very well aware of that
i am already in the market for one i know i prolly have 4 mos max, in the time being i will use my time to research some more.
most likely i will be getting 150-200 gallon long style, so plz point this noob with his new but serious hobby

i wish i was back home in indonesia, i could have the native arowanas raised pond with all kinda monster fish in it

Er, by immediately, I pretty much meant immediately, like ASAP (aka nowhere near 4 months). The tank is already much too small for its current size...and didn't you say you were going to do research before buying it?

Well the one piece of good news is if you already have your aro spitting out pellets, that means he is on his way to accepting them. All part of the process. Best to get him on them now. You're already halfway there

as for now that 20 gallon tank is pretty adiquate i think, he moves freely right now still and i dont see him being restraint, i thought it was ok because i researched

Well the one piece of good news is if you already have your aro spitting out pellets, that means he is on his way to accepting them. All part of the process. Best to get him on them now. You're already halfway there

thank you for your confirmation because i know he will give up first than me, the hard part is picking up the spitted out pellet off the buttom of my tank..but i noticed my senagal bichirs eating it at the buttom too, which i think its all good

you can buy some guppies and breed them, they will increase the number really fast; and there are small comet goldfish sale in Petsmart at 13 cents, but I don't know if the aro is big enough to eat them ! or you can buy some cricket at Petsmart !
