are u serious?
as for now that 20 gallon tank is pretty adiquate i think, he moves freely right now still and i dont see him being restraint, i thought it was ok because i researched :(
Baby aros are extremely jumpy and need to have plenty of space, not to mention at that size they grow about 2" per month. You will definitely need at least a 55 gallon (or a 40 breeder would work temporarily as well) ASAP. A 40B would last about 3 months, and a 55 would last about 4 months before another upgrade would be needed.

thats what i read, as right now im watching him very closely right now, monitoring everything, mine has not exhibits jumping yet, he seems to be very calm compare to what i heard..
but i noticed he is very dashy LOL, good thing he knows not to hit the tank..atleast for now.
im trying to bond with him thats one of reason i put him in small house for now till he grows up abit, which by them im sure we know each other :P

you can buy some guppies and breed them, they will increase the number really fast; and there are small comet goldfish sale in Petsmart at 13 cents, but I don't know if the aro is big enough to eat them ! or you can buy some cricket at Petsmart !
thats what we thinking..use our current tank to breed the food, i was just at petsmart like hours ago and i saw baby cricker 24 for 3.49 is it good price all the guppies ar too much money for the fish right now

you can also try to feed him shrimps, some time Albertsons sale only $3.99 a lb !

Just because it isn't actually jumping into the sides and top of the tank, doesn't mean it has enough space, but if you don't believe me, then good luck with your future stunted aro.

Where in your research did you come up with putting a 6" silver in a 20g tank. Did you research growth rates at all? In 4 months that aro should be 10-14". In a year your looking at it being near 24" maybe sooner. Of coarse these are average growth rates with proper care, but with filthy water and a small tank you may be able to slow that growth rate down some.

dont worry bderick, im new making pet as arowana but i grew up around that specific fish lovers
i chose silver(rainbow) because its the cheaper fish and asian is illegal here in the state, thats what i found out according to my research.
i said 4 mos max..thats because i expect my baby silver arowana cant take that tank anymore, again its according to that grow rate of 1-1 1/2 per mos.

putting baby arowana rightaway to big tank (150+) is not good too as its harder for you to monitor and feed and get to know the fish closer.
btw raising arowana is not text book, its take gradual process, and yes i researched to gain more knowledge, and i take it as grain of salt not bible of raising my fish, well again my research is internet source LOL
as right know i see my fish is a happy fish and he already willing to get pet/touch and play with me, i do WC every 2 days with my "tiny" 20G long(breeder tank).
oh yeah thats what i found out what i have is the breeder tank, which i referred it as 20G long style LOL
and thanks for your concern, i appreciated it but trust me i love/care my fish than you care about my fish :)

What are you smoking.. You sure do  a lot.

Good Luck with your aro bro. Keep us posted.

LOL, the good stuff ofcourse :P
on serious note, i see him as happy fish, well for the time being..5 neon jumbo downed to 1 within 3 days, i feed some bloodworm for my 2 3"inchers bichirs some bloodworms, and i noticed the arowana venturing to eat it, he did swallow eat 1 bloodworm LOL
and also a stick of pellet, no its not hikari pellet but the recomendation from the LFS for color enhancement, forgot the name, that he did not touch..prolly he is full because i noticed i had 2 jumbo neon when i got home..after shower i have 1 left.
i might going to starve the baby aro so he can fully accept the stick.
im worried if he is hooked with live food though..im planning to have live fish for him prolly once a week instead of daily meal.
