Uhh I'm running 2×39 t5ho one 10k and one acintic. How would I go about seeing his true colors? Ha Turn off the acintic?

hhmm, well, if tht's the only way. :L if u can describe it, tht would be helpful. but as i can see, it's colours are blueish-black. am i right? and the patterns looks like on the red dragon.

Yes its blueish black. With a pinkish color around the mouth and neck that doesn't really show in the picture.
Ill try taking a picture of him in the natural sun with the t5 lights off to see if that helps.

Also, how long before the kok grows? He's about 5 inches and I've only had him for about a month so I'm not sure if he has really "claimed" the tank yet , being that its a fairly large tank (120 gallon) for a juvenile. I've read that when they are being acclimated and are stressed that their kok can shrink.

ok, i'll keep in touch.

at tht size right now, maybe around 3" or more. are u sure it's a male? have u vent it? there are possibilities tht it's not.
is it in the tnk alone? and yes, in stress their kok will shrink and their colors will fade as well. btw, is it eating already? wht are u feeding it?

No i have not vent it yet. I was just assuming it was a male. Will females show vibrant colors like the males? And yes he/she willingly eats anything, I feed new life spectrum, hikari gold, and thawed out shrimp. And his tamkmates are a 6" pleco and 5 small assorted african cichlids that he loves to chase around

These were taken with pure sunlight, T5HOs off.
I think he shows more color with daylight then he does with any type of aquarium light!
