I watched that video ska. Nice idea! Are those lights resting on the glass covers? Aside from the slightly annoying fact that it makes the tank look like a helicopter landing pad, that seems like a really good idea. I might give this a shot. What lights are you using again?

Well my 20" silver has slight DE on its left eye. What I'm doing is covering the entire tank (front, back, and sides) and forcing it to look up. I am also feeding it hikari sticks only. When I throw the sticks in, I can actually see it using the left eye to look up and around for it. I also limit the number of item I put in the fish tank (heaters, driftwood, ect..)At this point, I don't think fixing DE is possible but I do believe that I can prevent it from getting any worse.

As for the cause, I am leaning towards head injury and physical attributes. Silver arowanas specialize in looking up for food. Their eyes may be more flexible than other fishes, why could mean it sticks out more from the eye socket than other fishes. They are designed to jump out of the water and living in a crowded unnatural environment, they are sure to jump and hit their eyes at least once, therefore it is much easier to get DE when head trauma occurs.

I could be because you silver owners are lazy and just dump in loads of food that drops to the bottom meaning the aro has to go down for food

I have had close to 20 Asian aros and always drop one meal worm in at a time and not one of the 20 has had drop eye

I also don't feed my aro salt foods it's always insects which they would mainly eat in the wild super worms locusts crickets wax worms as much as I like hikari pellets I never feed them 2 my aro

How much and how often do you feed your aro?

One theory I have read concerns fatty deposits behind the eyes. Could this be caused by overfeeding or feeding a diet too high in fat content?

Spoken like someone who knows nothing about silver aros. You ever owned one? Doesn't sound like it to me. Don't talk about things you know nothing about.....

Drop eye in silvers has to do with genetics. Not eating food of the bottom. Only people who don't know anything about silvers would think this.
