Help! Atlantic Stingray curling!

which makes COMPLETE sense. Unfortunately, its tiny more like pea stone. And the customer base for the tank, is four feet high, plus a wierd shaped, taller type of tank. I did the whole measurement yesterday and divided it by 220 whatever.....came up with 125 tank size. Its just an odd ball tank. so to reach the bottom, I need a chair and half my toro in the tank :) I need some kind of substrate. I have undergravel filtration.
 
As long as the rocks aren't too abrasive, I wouldn't see a reason to remove them. Smooth river stones are going to be a given in their environment anyway.
 
when I gravel vac, the rocks are heavy enough to not be sucked up. Maybe I'll spare myself this one right now. Is it wierd for an Atlantics belly to be pink?
 
This little ray goes from totally happy, to NOT HAPPY at all in the drop of a hat! yesterday she was swimming around, climbing the glass and acting normal, today she is curled up like a taco one minute, then reverse curled the next minute, almost "tent like" the water is perfect, the salt is gradual. She will start swimming in circles and turn her disk into a downward tent. theres like an inch of space between her mouth and the rocks. wierd....and an hour ago, shes fine again. This things giving me anxiety.
 
I have test strips and check the water daily, and weekly consistent water changes keep the nitrates down to nothing and no amonia. shes a juvenile ray, shes really small. Disk size probably 5 inches. Shes never stopped eating though. Her behavior is just ....bizzarre
