It has been 2 days since i bought this black arowana, it's about longer then your middle finger. it won't eat since i bought it , but i bought a spotted gar a day before and it's eating happily.. did i bought the wrong food for the arowana? i tried frozen blood worms, blood worms, guppy, small prawns pallets but .. no use.. please help!

arowanas prefere food thats alive, try grasshoppers they will eat insects in wild

so if i buy mealworms will it eat at this age and why does he not eat anything now?

crickets are the way to go - aro's cant resist them. it may just be a case of it being new in the tank. my aro took a week before it ate but it was considerably larger than yours.

just be a little patient, if it doesn't eat within about 1 week then start worrying
the aro probably just needs a little time to adjust, crickets would be the best food. Good luck

Crickets? Oh all right ! I'll get some cricket now and only after a week they start eating?! So worried about him starving! Btw thanks guys!

Proper food for a 2" baby black is freeze dried blood worms. Feed these 4-5 times daily and maintain your temp at about 84 degrees. At about 4" you can start feeding crushed pellets as a staple. Once you start feeding crickets limit feeding them to once a week. Crickets are very addictive and it will be hard to get your arowana to eat other foods if crickets are the stable.

WOW thanks! alot thats very helpful!... but he always hides at the bottom when i open the lid to feed him... very weird !
