So I noticed yesterday that my mystery cichlid from my last post has had a change. I notice his right eye appears to be buldging a bit or swollen. His left eye is fine. I also notice some discoloration on his forehead. He was solid white before. Now he has a pink almost bruise on his forehead. The water in tank is perfect and no other fish have anything wrong. Could it be a injury? Ran into driftwood? He seems to be guarding the right side to other fish. I did a waterchange last night and added salt. This tank is pellet only.no live.

Fish looks fine to me. Slight injury nothing to worry about. I like to use magnesium sulfate, (epsomm salts) reduces swelling. My dovii injured his eye after a spawning.
A couple of pics for a example.
Before and after. It may take some time 2 two 4 weeks but it will heal. My advice is to use Epsom salts and above all have patients.

It's pop eye. I use API aquarium salt and API melafix - returns to normal in less than 5 days. You have to treat it early on though before too much damage is done to the eye.

My JD has had it twice in 2 months recently from injuries on rocks whilst hunting fry.

Easily curable if you deal with it now.
