Yes I did it with a baby datnoid. He was 2" at the time. He was starved for almost 2 months. People here really underestimate the amount of time fish can be starved. 1 week of starving is so easy for a fish that's like the time between lunch and dinner for humans. A few hours at most.

He said bass not datnoid, and would that be your 3yr old 2" datnoid your referring to?

Nope. That would be the other 1 that I sold. He was 9" when I sold him to a member on mfk. Back in July.

Pbass are one of the only cichlids that Ive seen that are stuborn enough to starve to death, starving alone wont get it off feeders if its stuborn.

monkey see monkey do is the best i believe. Got all my peacocks off live with this. Just stop feeding them anything but frozen. Thn go to pellets

Don't give in! I went through the same situation with my pair of 13"-14" pbass I use to have. They grew up on feeders and I actually starved both of them for 2-3 months straight before they excepted other foods. First do u have any other types of fish with your pbass as tank mates and are they eating other foods besides live? If u don't best is to add some because the pbass will eventually learn off others eating that non live food is food. I know 2-3 months seems long but that's sometimes what it takes if u want your fish to eat non live foods. Takes patience just don't give in. Monster fish can survive without food for a very long time. For myself when I starve fish to get them off live foods I don't give in. If they don't eat then too bad for them...u need this mentality for it to work. It may sound cruel but that's what it takes.
