Help i cant get my peacock bass off feeders.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Try feeding bloodworms and then start soaking pellets in bloodworm juice to trigger the same smell. It works. I had to do it with my unfaded red texas, who was only eating bloodworms. Good luck!

He said bass not datnoid, and would that be your 3yr old 2" datnoid your referring to?

LMAO...

To OP, I have read of people cold water euthanizing and stuffing the feeders with pellets to give their fish a taste/smell for them. I hate feeding live food, so it may sound distasteful but maybe it will help make the transition.

GL!

The key is to trigger some sort of predatory response. Just like what people use when fishing. Smell of the food may be somewhat important but mostly its the look and taste. Pbass hunt by site.

i have a large crenicichla, shovelnose, large oscar, and a large parrot fish my water is perfect and the fish clean up all the left overs. As far as monkey see monkey do goes all my other fish eat anything i put in my tank including my fingers. I have gotten him to suck in some frozen silversides but he pretty much immediately spits them out. I know feeders are bad for them to eat but i was wondering what if i froze the feeders to try to get him used to dead and frozen food? And i figure this would eliminate parasites from the picture. And when you say tilapia filets what kind of tilapia? like the stuff at the grocery store for people to eat? It has been 9 days today i didnt realize how long i could go without feeding him i guess i will just keep trying this damn fish is driving me nuts!

Freezing feeders is distasteful but it works. The key is getting the fish used to biting when you throw food. Eventually, it will accept feeders.

Yes just frozen grocery store tilapia fillets. All fish are different though so you will probably end up going thru several of these tips before you find what works.

There is a old thread I created on getting my bass to eat. He ate on day 18.
