what do you want help with?

Migetguy, I got your PM and looked for your thread. Did you measure the temperature between the old water and new water? What are the water parameters right now? How often do you really change your water? How big is the tank and how many discus do you have? What else are in the tank aside from discus? We need more information here to determine what caused your discus' situation.

:eek: I hope you are being sarcastic. the guy wants help with his question, so his discus don't die. discus are not cheap fish.

nvm i found out the reason my dad used detergent to clean my filter and didnt wash the pads on my Rena xp3 well enough so i had to change them out and do another water change. the fish are ok just a few of them are black and ill do another water change on sun or today. and the parameter are just fine it was just the detergent.and so after i checked the water parameters and it was just fine. (i usually wash all my tanks but i had AP testing at school so my dad had to wash it and i never use detergent.

Its ok i know how you feel my dad does a bad job of cleaning my tank and then i end up doing it myself

Some of your discus are dark, correct? I hope they did not turn black. Discus that are dark are stressed, discus that turn completely black die.

I wonder if anyone has actually bred black discus???
None that I know of. Even if a rare black comes, the breeder might freak out and consider it a cull instead maybe due to the norm black discus are very stressed fish with no more chances of surviving. I wonder if this actually happened before.

No Soap!!!!!
His dad did not know that so I wouldn't blame him too much for what he did. Migetguy, please explain to your dad how best to clean the filter media, etc and why to avoid detergents and the like. Please do remember your dad was only doing this with good intentions so don't blame him for what he did however this might serve you a lesson not to trust anyone else in your household to touch the tank unless they know what they are doing.
