Help id my fish plz

Looks like a gold saum by the facial markings and fins but not 100% because of body shape at this age.

The saddle marking (the two lines on either side of the midlateral blotch) makes it seem to be one of the acaras, though it might be too young to tell which. I'm leaning towards one of the true acaras (genus Aequidens) with the caudal spot as well where as most of the blue acara group (which includes green terrors, genus Andinoacara tenatively) do not have one.

it is some type of Aequidens, most likely not a Blue Acara. IMO i would say it looks like a biseriatus.

It could be a gold acara (Andinoacara biseriatus) but that faint caudal spot would make me think not. And the fact that A. biseriatus is darn near the hardest acara to find, odds of finding it in a random LFS are next to nothing when a lot of the big names in the South American cichlid game are searching for them (Jeff Rapes and Dr. Lee Newman come to mind). Of course that caudal spot could fade out as it grows.

It look like a firemouth or some type of geo.

i agreed...

i ignored the spot because of how small the fish was, and knowing it may fade.

i cant say i was aware of how rare they are though.

what else has the red strip along the dorsal? that was a key factor when i was ID'ing it

Their rarity is do to the fact they come from a remote Pacific location in Colombia. They have a tiny natural range that sits right smack in the middle of the cocaine plantations, so no one can really go collect them. I would love some of them though, they are a really beautiful acara.

I do agree the coloration of the facail markings fit though.

i have a green terror that size that look just the same only with a bit more colour. If not deff some kind of acara.
