Nekosan,
Looks like you have an Astatheros Rhytisma. A pretty nice one at that. Very rare in the hobby. Where did you get that guy? Here is an older pic of my pair for reference. Good luck!

i have a green terror that size that look just the same only with a bit more colour. If not deff some kind of acara.

you arent speaking of the fish in your avatar are you? that is now a gold saum, or a riv.

Thanks GMFishNut for your info. That fish looks great. I have to wait for it to get bigger and i'll post a follow up pic. Thanks for everyones help!

Wow GMFISHNUT ... if you would have suggested that without that first pic, I would have called you crazy!!! Seeing a acara saddle on another genus is kind of odd, but I think you are spot on as well. I would have never guessed Astaheros despite the face not being as rounded as it usually as for an acara, but those saddles had me sold!

it could either be the A. rhytisma pictured above or otherwise I believe it is a species of Thorichthys...possibly maculipinnis. T. maculipinnis are much more common than A. rhytisma so I wouldn't get too excited just yet. Let it grow and color up some and we'll be able to give you a better idea. :)

for reference, here's a T. maculipinnis

Astatheros is quite right. A. rhytisma most likely.
I would assume A. rhytisma, A. alfari and A. siquis look quite similar at that age but considering the frequency at which A. rhytisma is encountered in the hobby over the other two I would consider it spot on.
I'm trying to get some A. alfari breeding going and when I saw that picture I thought someone had beat me to it! lol
