can anyone id this fish..it is labeled as a " extremely rare 6.5 inch Purple/Blue Diamond Altuvie Piranha " but never heard of a " Altuvie " before its going for $200 is this fish worth the money or did he just give a fancy name for it?? hope the pics help

my black rhom is a little smaller..thinking if i should switch to this "P" if he claims what it is...... can anyone please confirm this Piranha ...looks like a diamond but don't know what a " Altuvie " is
 
Offer the guy $50. After all thats what he paid for it about a week ago.

On another forum I was on most members figured this fish was S.Sanchezi.
 
Looks like S. compressus to me. Maybe S. altuvei but the spots aren't easy to make out. Compressus will have tiger stripes at this size. Altuvei has spots too. It looks to be one of the two in my opinion. It's pretty easy to rule out/ confirm sanchezi. S. sanchezi has irregular scutes. Get a close up of the scutes and that can tell you what it is.

Personally IMO...90% S. compressus. I don't see any spots though.

I would happily pay 75-125$ for this fish at 6-7" if I was in the market.

so you seen this fish before? $50??? he paid for it?? it was on Kajjii....I thought it was a diamond rhom of some sort but was iffy when i seen the red throat....thanks again for the advise.....
 
I would say it's probably S compressus as well. keep your rhom if you like it.
 
Yes I have the kid is on another forum I am on and he went there for advice on what the fish was. And well... Most people on the forum ID'd the fish as Sanchezi or Compressus. He himself is the only guy who believes its an altuvie.... I would honestly pass it up.. I don't like how he is trying to get 4x what he paid for it after only having it a week. He is just trying to make a lot of money.

If your going to get it. Don't pay over $100 for it. Even then its giving the kid a $50 profit.
 
Ganna pass I love my rhom and finally got my tank today!!!!! Happy happy joy joy not really a monster tank but its a big upgrade to what I have now got a powerhead too hopefully he will enjoy his new home. Just finshed the set up just and running the cycle for now hopefully it will be ready in a week's time
