Treat with prazi-pro and get a few hundred ghost shrimp. As everyone said, that bad boy is skinny as hell.

Warm, clean water helps healing when combined with salt

Raising the temperature will aid in healing open wounds, but all it will do with one in this poor state is add stress. Additionally, raising the temperature from 78-86 reduces the oxygen saturation from about 8.5mg/l to 7.5mg/l and adding salt will further reduce this number.

Getting the ray eating is #1 concern. It looks like it has not taken food for a long time. If the ray is still having to endure ammonia levels in your tank as you stated, that is another major issue that can be helped with more frequent small water changes.

Lights off, limit stress, get him eating.

feed it whatever it will eat, something live - blackworms, ghost shrimp, earthworms... that would be more concern than the water quality at the moment. although frequent water changes need to be kept up.

Ok, I am running to the store to get live blackworms and live ghost shrimp asap. I bought it from OSA and overthere it was eating live guppy or minnows i forget. The damage on the left side of his disk got worse this morning. This whole incident is tearing me apart, I've always wanted one and now that I finally get one i cant seem to keep it alive

Damn.... If it lives the first treatment of prazi-pro. That ray is pretty bad bro. Get that guy eating anything quick.

The higher temp will also speed up metabolism, which isn't good for this ray. I don't see a good ending for this ray.

That is in a very bad way! How long have you had it? It needs to eat something soon. I sure hope it didn't come in that way.

Ive had it since wed night. I tried feeding it rosey reds on day two and when it wouldnt take them I tried nightcrawlers the next day. Heres a pic of how it looked when I recieved it.

I added in 15 ghost shrimp and 1 tablespoon of bloodworms. I am keeping the tank covered with blankets, I am praying he takes them.

also he is missing his stinger, could that have something to do with it?
