Tank Size: 90G
Temp: 32 deg c
PH: 7.6
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10ppm
Filtration: two canisters with matrix and ceramic rings, one internal filter, one ocean free hydra 40
Tank mates: 6 clown loaches, 3 yo yo loaches, 1 juvie dat, 1 clouded archer, 3 juvie plecos [blue phantom, angel and albino sailfin]

This guy is the largest fish in the tank at approx 4inches.

After noticing the cloudy eyes and testing the water, i changed 60% of the water and did a test again today morning [1 day later] and the nitrate is back to 0ppm.

I was advised salt as treatment but then i believe it would hurt the loaches yes?

Melafix is not available here and would take at least 3 more days for the online order to be delivered.

Would anti bacterial eye drops work? [Moxifloxacin]

For whatever medications recommended would i need to move the dat to a different tank or can i just use the medication in the main tank itself?

Thanks for your time :)

first...done use melafix, melafix is for injury fish and its bad for loaches.

Salt is safe and perfect for all fish.

You did the right thing, water change and salt..repeat water change and salt every 2-3days u should see improvement within a week or so.

Dat can easily get stress out , over feeding or nitrite spike will make it cloudy eyes. so you did the right thing, just keep it up.

Thanks Stickyrice :) Shall get me some salt and start treating. Just that google keeps telling me salt is bad for clowns. go figure. and api says melafix can be used to treat cloudy eyes.

It's just damn confusing is all

YeS melafix can use to treat cloudy eyes, but in your case you have loaches..most fish that is scale less doesnt like med. Salt is ok with loaches, I have many dats collection and once a while they get cloudy eyes. Some time I use to much salt, raise up my temp to treat my dats..my loaches is find.

However if salt doesnt work with in a week or 2 and if you doesnt see any improvment then try melafix if you like, but i would suggest using only 60% of recommend dose from the label. Try to stay away from med first. Salt is best for cloudy eyes with combo water change.

sigh wish i had bought all these when i set up the tank itself.

thanks man. shall pick up the api. would have to wait for a week to get it though :(

It's ok. just keep up with your water change. you can speed up by doing a small water chang every day 20-30% daily...clean water help a lot.

Maybe other expert can help me chim in with this. Maybe others have better solution for you.

yeah, shall do that. do i need to do water changes if parameters are all fine?

other experts might be bored from hearing same ol questions again and again :)
