[Help] Indo Dat Cloudy Eyes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
use half of what it recommend you since you have loaches. I never have problem with mine so I double it.

thanks stickyrice :) shall try it out and hopefully my loaches dont mind and my dat recovers fast. won't be home for 3 days next week :(

Been out of town for 3 days and just got back today morning. His eyes seem more white than cloudy :( Is that good or bad?

He's otherwise active, swimming around.

Do i isolate him and use salt and melafix?

Water Parameters were:

PH 7.2/7.6
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5ppm
Temp: 30deg C

Did 50% water change and added salt. He's still white eyed :(

well i guess he's gone blind now :(
Sorry to hear that. Are you still going to keep him? Just (carefully) hand feed him and don't change the tank décor to much. My betta is going blind in one eye (thankfully only one), and thats what I do for him.. While saying that, my fish is a betta, or in other words, tiny. So theres no risk of injury to me. A fish that's capable of getting to the size dats can may be a different story.

Sorry to hear that the dat has not made progress. The eyes should have cleared up by now but I don't know what else to tell you that has not already been advised.
Kitty Kat,what has caused your betta to lose it's vision?

I'm not sure, he's really old, could that have anything to do with it? Thats our main theory seeing as how we hadn't changed anything (no added tank mates, no new décor etc) for a while then one day my hubby noticed he wasn't attacking his pellets properly, since then his eye has gone slightly cloudy and we have to drop the pellets to one side of him and push them back to him as they get swept around the tank.

I don't think he's sick, aside from one cloudy eye he seems fine, he's been like it for a while and its not gotten any worse (that is, it got to a certain cloudiness and stayed there, no change since), he gets daily 60%+ water changes etc so I can almost guarantee it wasn't brought on by poor water conditions. But with all that said, I don't actually know what caused it.

Also, sorry OP if I've derailed your thread. :)

yep. plan to keep him. he's still able to find the pellets on the bottom but just that he gobbles up the substrate along with the pellets :( he then spits out the substrate.

yea. sucks to have a beautiful fish like dats fall sick.
