What kind of salt?

Sorry for the slow reply. evaporated sea salt. You can get some made specifically for treating freshwater fish at your lfs. Hope he pulls through. Melafix works good on external wounds on catfish, but not internal.

still kickin today... I'm not going to have a chance to go to the LFS till tomorrow if I can get out of work early.

I only have sea-salt and table salt right now.
