Can not put enough emphasis on L14.. I'd also recommend an L75.. Sabaji / para pleco. Thats more active and out n about than my l14 is.. but they both look great.

I'd suggest an L95 but you said mediums...I think I'll be getting an L95 soon if I don't talk myself out of it :p

Really depends on the permanent housing. Both the L600 and argentea will outgrow the 75 and 150.

Both species at maturity are large and can be nasty. Our Argentea just outgrew a 450 gallon.

My l14 is shy-ish. He only comes out if I keep the tank around 85-86*. Then I see him feeding off glass, wood, rocks, and activey guarding pellet that fall within range.. when it goes under 84* he goes to this piece of driftwood in the middle of te thank that has a huge cave like thing that he's completely dug out down to the glass... he'll camp here and wait for the current to push the pellets down to him. He hasn't been the same though really since the L27 died back in october. My L75 is out constantly though... from what I read they do well with conspecifics also.. I'd thought about doing a species tank of L75 I like them so much. They really throw their weight around as well.

Get 2 or 3 L75. You won't regret it at their price. Very outgoing! L14 are also very outgoing, but I have noticed males having a slightly higher chance of shyness even at adult sizes ime. Haven't come across too many shy L14 females

My 7inch 273 isn't shy at all. He competes well with my large L25 & L600 & never backs down to them. When food hits the water he scrambles around with the rest of my plecs very well
