Help me I messed up 0_o

I think if I were you iwould see about trading him back for a pictus catfish, they very seldom get bigger than five inches and are peaceful with fish to big to eat.
Either way here is the basics on setting up a small tank. Add your gravel, rocks, etc. fill the tank with water close to the temp. you are aiming for and dechlorinate it. Plug in your heater, you will need one. add your filter, if it is a hang on try to get hold of some sludge from a working filter in a healthy tank and add that to the media, add any plants you are wanting.Let the tank sit over night, checking several times to adjust the heater. The next day double check the temp. 78-82 is good for most tropicals. Add one fish and let it settle in for several days, if you have a test kit (recomended) test your ammonia and nitrites daily when they read zero start slowly adding more fish. A 20g would support a pictus, a couple corys, an opaline gourami, and 3-4 giant danios or congo tetras.
I really do advise trading off the iridescent shark (Pangasius sutchi) within the next few years that would require a pond 2 1/2' deep, 8' wide and 12' long.

that shark might be a grass cutter they also have whiskers and silver black in color. i think this type is aggressive type too.

they live in a 130 gal tank, Got them abour 4inches or so now probably 8inches maybe more .they seem happy in their little side of the tank. They dont bother anyone and seemed to eat flakes and shrimp pellets. i also feed them frozen krill.but from what ive read they can grow up to 12".

They can grow up to three feet, if I am going to just get three do you think they will be ok in a 20 gal for two years? Or should I use a bigger tank. When they are way bigger I would put them in a pond or something like a 130

OK UPDATE!!! :woot: I got the irid shark in a 20 gal heater going, undergravel running and I put in some bio starter fluid stuff to rapidly mature the aquarium, he seems to be doing great and loving this new space! :D No thermal shock this time, though the temp right now is a bit below 70 it was rougher in what he was in. I have the other smaller guys ( two strawberry tets, four gups, four neon tets, small algae sucker and two cherry barbs) in a 2.5 gallon, and they also seem to be doing ok. They now have a little cheap filter/airstone which is good cause there are alot of them in that small space. We are getting a free 10 gallon tomarrow and I was wondering if I should even transfer the little guys into that tank. Oh and the shark will be getting two new tank mates as well since they do better in schools when they are young. I think I finally got this under control.

i had three irridecent sharks in a 125 and they never got over 8 or 9 in. i dont know why they didnt grow any bigger, maybe a 125 is too small for them. i have seen some huge ones around 25in or so in a 225. they can be fast swimmers and they like long runs to swim across. when i moved them into a 90gal corner they didnt seem as happy and were always bumping into the walls , heater, filter intake/ out. i traded them in. i guess i like fish with a little more personality. not one time did they aknowledge my existance, they never even got excited when feeding time came around. hope my little input can help you out with whatever you decide to do. good luck :)

You've definitely made some improvements!!!!! Watch your shark to be sure he doesn't end up with ich from water temp fluctuations. Temp consistency is very important. I myself would transfer your smaller fish into the 10 gal..... I've seen some pretty big barbs but not familiar with the ones you have...... I started this hobby with a 5 gal and my first fish didn't even last a week so don't feel bad! You've definitely shown potential by taking the initiative to correct the prob! Good luck!!! :)
