Help me pick a catfish plz

Hello everyone.

Im after a catfish with the following criteria

Max Size: around 10"
behaviour: must be a serious preditor, abit of daylight activity would be a bonus.
Looks: anything really


Tank mates will be chosen acording to catfish, it will only be in a 4 foot hence the max size.

Spotted, snail, yellow or flat bullheads. They meet all your requirements. The yellow grows a bit larger then 10".

If you hae the money do a few gulper cats. Get about 10'' and are AWESOME predators. No tankmaes though..

My 1st thoughts are for a slightly bigger, meaner suggestions, in looking for the king of my 4ft tank, mouth with and body to propell it type preditory catfish.

Maybe 1-2 large fish to sharge the tank with him (cichilids)

Gulper cat is nearer the mark, cant find much info on it tho. Do you no any good web pages?

Not really. Just so you knoww theyre EXPENSIVE. and can ea fish bigger than them.

Yeah i just looked it up, £300/$500 a piece!! no thanks. Shame because there cool fish.

Heres an idea that may get some disapprovement lol

walking catfish? i was after something 10" max and these get to 14" according to alot of websites. However there pretty much the sort of catfish im after and i can get then for under £3/$5 locally. Does that extra 4" really matter.

Opinions?

ps they are legal in the uk

Edit, some sites say 14" inc planetcatfish.com some say 2ft!! whats the story there?

I have seen some pretty large walkers. I would trust the more science based sites like PC.com, like this one it reports 24"...

I still think you should go with a bullhead but I actually think those are illegal in the UK so perhaps now.

Bullheads do look cool.
(in the uk we have a species called the bullhead but its a small river fish)

I cant find out if its an illigal species in the uk, could be hard to track down even if its not.

we're along the exact right lines now tho (altho i did like the synos i may get some for another aquarium.)
