O I just remembered the Uromastyx.:)

Hahaha me too! Yes I really like them too. I have been on the watch out for one for a while also.

- Don't feed them cat food or dog food, get people-quality food that are ORGANIC
- Get yourself a mini-chopper, some don't like to eat their veggies and need to be mixed in with the meat or fruit
- Fruit is a good way to mask the smell of the veggies
- Spot's Stew is your God
- Feed them once daily or every two day as a hatchling and subadult
- Feed them once or twice a week as an adult to prevent obesity
- They are trainable, some owners feed them their veggies first THEN their meat

Thanks a ton. That link helped me out sooo much. So basically they really don't get that much meat? That would be ok with me lol. I heard that ground turkey is ok to feed quite a bit.

They need 40% meat, 50% veggies, 10% fruit. Any lean meat is good for them.

That list was created because lot of BTS owners have problem getting them to eat their veggies, yet the BTS go nuts for fruit and meat.

Sorry, I got my percentage wrong... was thinking of another lizard.

So is the right percentage what is up there or is there a different percentage? Sorry if I am confused...

It was included in the reason for editting

"Last edited by TheBloodyIrish : Today at 08:27 PM. Reason: Had the percentage at 60/40/10"

Sorry about that.

Lizards are like fish, they will eat whenever something come by. BTS body is adapted to handle the scarcity of meat in a harsh enviroment, so they graze on plants to maintain themselves. However when a prey come along, they will take that chance.

Kinda like how fat is not good for us in large amount, but we eat it whenever we can because back in the early days it was rare and good in small amount. But now we have access to fatty food all the time, so it is not good for us but we eat it all the time.

Thank you that helps me out alot. So a mix of ground turkey, greens, and a couple fruity treats would be good? I can't do silk worms because I can't find them so they are out of the question...

Each BTS is different. They base their personality on the food they eat... As a rule of thumb, most of them hate their veggies.

Mine love his veggies, but the only meat he will touch are crickets, extremely lean beef (which is expensive), bison meat and chicken minces.

Ahhh ic well then I guess I will just have to keep that chart in mind and figure out what it likes when/if I get it. Oh and what would be the final size of the enclosure I would need?
