I have to say, a Red Isletas female is looking a lot more attractive to me right now than a female Sal. Another option is a pair of Sajica, or three Cryptoheros females (something like a marble con, a Sajica, and a HRP). Any ideas about either of these options?

I've always loved sajica, but it really all comes down to what you're looking for. Would you rather one med/large fish or 2-3 small/med fish? Either way you should have plenty of personality, so it really just boils down to what you're looking for out of your tank.
i got my red isletas from Jeff Rapps last wednesday. if your worried about the turtle being terrorized then go with the isletas, mine is such a wimp but i love it! there great looking fish!

This is a direct link to the exact tank. I got the 48" one but they come up to 60x24" in size which would be pretty awesome. I plan on having the water level up to the top of the front wall, then attaching an acrylic strip above that so that the turtle can't climb out and fish can't jump out.

I love small fish there are so many options with them. To me the fun in keeping cichlids is breeding so my opinion to the op is a small pair. Thorichthys, cryptoheros, archcentrus etc. Along with some fast dithers like swords or mollys. Just my opinion.
