AWESOME. Thanks...exactly what I have been looking for.

I see those are "closeouts". Hows the quality of them? Did you get a stand as well?

The quality is great. On the 48x18x18, the acrylic is 1/2" all around. Smooth seams, rounded front corners. I also got a 35x18x18 traditional one and it is gorgeous as well. I got a stand for the 48" one but it is still in its packaging until I move next week.

Thanks all for the suggestions! I've thought hard and think I might need to stick with small Cryptoheros species, mainly because I want this setup to look like an ecosystem, and I want the turtle to be the main focus. If I were to get a larger cichlid, it would pretty much dominate the focus of the tank. I'm thinking either a Sajica pair or three females might be in order.

OMG nevermind that idea!!! I was at the LFS today and saw a really promising 2" pink male convict with long trailers. I brought him home and he just about got killed. I guess my turtle has grown up since I last tried fish with him. He was hell bent on eating the con until I finally took mercy on him and got him out. He's going back to the LFS. :( So much for that idea.

Sensational looking tank Natalie what about keeping a blue acara in it they are a terrific small to medium sized cichlid.

A mud turtle may be better in this situation.

Musk turtles like deep water, and can be found 15' down, while Mud turtles tend to stay towards the shallows.

A musk could be ok in this situation, but a Mud would be way more at home.

No fish :( I tried a convict and he almost got murdered. It'll just be the turtle.

You might be right, but I am really attached to my loggerhead. I really feel like 12" will be deep enough, since the footprint is so large and he's mostly a "bottom walker" anyway. If he starts to look cramped, I'll get a traditional 75g for him.

You got a 4' tank for a 4" turtle?! I bow to you and your sense of appropriate tank space! :headbang2:headbang2

Aw thanks. He's actually only 2" at the moment. Feisty little dude, though!
