Help me plan my move.

I'd get the biggest bins you have space for and can handle. 6 days is a long time and you really have to plan for the worst case scenario. Even if everything runs like clockwork you will still be stressed and knackered when you reach your destination so if they need an extra day or 2 in the bins while you set everything up bigger will be better.
I remember you mentioned you recently quit smoking so you will need a lot of willpower on that side too, I smoked like a pig during our recent move.

Oh man part of me wants to attempt to quit after the move. Oh boy what i wouldnt give for one right now. I think i had maybe 4 smokes in the past 7 or 8 days.

FYI, you can get an oxygen tank st any local weld shop. You will also have to get a regulator with it and then you can fill the bags with oxygen.

I’m still looking for a job down in Florida myself. I’m trying to have something lined up for when I graduate in May in Mechanical Engineering. I’ve mainly been looking in the Orlando/Melbourne area, but I also have a lead in Pensicola. Maybe I’ll check out Jacksonville too.
Pyru is moving to the same area lol.

That vulture is a hit but it would definitely lighten your load and your not sure if it will work long term anyway.

The pearsei and the remaining polys there's no way I'd let go. Your looking at 5yrs to get a pearsei to that size again and the polys have unique colors imo.

This is just me man & this will absolutely suck either way. I would probably rent a minivan or at the bare min a small suv. This would be my fish mobile. Go down the week before (2 people would be best to spread out fatigue). Set up the totes in a decent spot cover the tops the next day. Rent a low budget focus or something then make the trip back after a good night's rest.

This will knock the stress of worrying about your fish out. I would be one irritable dude transporting fish and fam that distance.

Yeah i agree man. The pearsei and polys are too valuable to us to atleast try and make it work. Some of those polys are thicker than my daughters arm.

The problem is i dont have anywhere to leave the fish if i went down ahead of time. Im thinking we'll be in a hotel for atleast 2 days because of the closing but depending on when the truck arrives they could be in those bins for 5 or 6 days at the worst. This is gonna be a blast (sarcasm) you know the wife is going to blame everything on these fish right. Traffic....fish fault....cranky kids... fish !

Hang in there man, smoking is a pointless habit that achieves nothing except poor health and sucking up your $. Wish I never let my discipline go so much when I moved as it's hard to rein it in again.
I predict you will be stressed and irritated regardless of if you are smoking or not,
You will get through this move and all the hassle simply because you don't have a choice, it's got to be done and you will do it.
And when it's settled you can look back and think what a crazy scene it was.
Did you consider shipping the fish to a local shop for, babysitting until you are ready?

Very true. And a saying i use myself. Tho its more fun when other people are the ones that "dont have a choice" lol.

I am considering shipping them. We should he taking a trip down in a couple of weeks. I'll scope out some fish shops while we are there

I’m interested in how this goes for you. I am planning on moving across the country next winter.

It is more fun when you are saying it instead of having it said to you I must admit, I'm probably still burned out from my move and dodgy xmas holiday so maybe not the best person to be talking about moving at the moment.
One thought I had is can you ship the other way? If you have a trusted shop in your area drop the fish there then get them to ship to your new house once you're set up. Probably better if you know and trust the guys looking after the fish.

I think it will be ok. Atleast with the bichirs. Those fish are like tanks. The only ones that may need a little TLC are the congicus ime they dont ship well.

I'm trying there's just not much work in my industry down there that I've seen. Right now we're looking at houses here so I'm probably going to be in the same boat as you sometime in the future.
