Help me seal my tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanx for the history. It helped a lot. Now we know at least there's some integrity to the setup.

Going the route you're going I would "ecapsulate" the rubber strip - meaning to sweep in a large path of silicone at the joint, lay in the strip and then sweep in another path over it completely covering it. Make sure the first sweep and second sweep meet so they can cure together.

Where I work whenever we have to use silicone on rubber we sand it lightly to give it more "bite". Irregardless. silicone doesnt stick to rubber that well. You could do the same with epoxy. I'm sure more ideas will fly through here by days end.

Let us konw what happens.

Fiberglass resin comes to mind...with that you won't need the rubber.

that was something else i was thinking

Fiberglass and resin will crack or de-laminate at adhesion point from expansion/contraction.

Perhaps the sealer used to install automotive windshields...researching.

Dr Joe

.

I think the best bet in this case IF you can find some is that black tar stuff they used on the metal frame tanks....Do you remember what that was Joe?
I'm afraid the windshield seal will have anti-mildew agents in it.

k well maybe i will do that if there is no way i can fix it the way it is, any ideas on how much it would cost and what i would need to make a plywood tank that big??? (minus the glass of course)

EVERYTHING is fixable. If you abandon this poor tank...Dr. Joe and I will look you up and kick your butt....LOL

Odd tanks need love too...
