Firstly, I should apologize as I know there are countless threads like these popping up all the time, so bear with me.

My 20L has gone through a few make-overs in the past 6 months and I need something more long term, something that will hold my attention.

I started with a pair of Keyholes which are one of my favorites. After a year or so I decided to give them to a friend of mine who put them in a 120. I then turned the tank over into a small Tanganyikan grow out tank. That got boring fast. So now I'm looking into some Cryptoheros sp. but would like to weigh my other options first. I'm looking for something a little less common with some serious personality.(No Rams, Apistos, Convicts etc.)

Any suggestions?

Not sure why this got moved. I guess I should specify that I'm looking to do CA/SA cichlids.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestions!

A fellow mod must have moved it thinking you are looking for options in general. Moving this back here for that reason you posted.;)

Thanks Lupin, and sorry about the confusion!

I have kept laetacara curviceps/dorsigera and gymnogeophagus in a 20G (not at the same time) . . . it was a little tight for the gymnos, but perfect for laetacara

if you went that way, it would help if the tank were planted . . .

I assumed by "20L" he meant a 20-gallon long (as opposed to 20-gallon high) . . .
