yeah i'm 99% sure it's a female.
to answer a few questions:
FRESHWATERPREDATORS - yes it does have the blue shimmer all down its body. it is in a devided 6' x 1.5'. in the other half is another smaller umbee, and it is always going nuts at the divider trying to kill the smaller one. i can't take a decent shot without the flash because the fish is moving too quickly and the image is blurry, but i took one with the flash to show that there is no black in the dorsal fin when challenging another fish.
UMBEEKING - cheers mate. i'm quite happy with the quality of this fish considering it's probly a F2000 LOL
MODEST MAN - looks like you were right on the money with this one. my smaller growouts are getting close to 3.5" so hopefully if one's a male it will start showing some characteristics soon.
