Help ! my ray is not feeding, already lost 1

tks again raynado. the thing is she is not very skinny at this time and hip bones are not showing. she would just be a little skinnier than the other stingray i have (they are both about the same size) ... I would still sometimes see her move and climb up the glass ... I suspect she is still eating but very very little (leftovers) as she always pass thru and not eat the food I drop in front of her .... Im happy she still made it this far but im at the same time frustrated at why she is not eating as much as she would normally eat ...

hi guys. here is the picture of the ray after not feeding for almost 30 days. It is not really skinny nor bony yet. I have not started any medication but last week I tried putting in blackwater extract and some arowana vitamins to stimulate appetite but it did not help. She is still not very active but at certain times of the day she moves and climbs up the glass. I am not sure if I can just leave her be and just wait when she starts feeding again. I am not sure what to do. appreciate the inputs. thanks !

hi aquaman, i actually bought a praziquantel powder from the lfs ... still figuring out how to use it .... i read in the internet that the powder needs to be dissolved completely (in alcohol or vodka ?) before adding it to the tank ... the thing is I am reluctant to move the sick ray to my 75 gallon hospital tank because i am afaid it may stress him a little more and treating my main tank with prazi may also not be a good idea. I am however seriously thinking of doing it (moving it to another tank and treating it with prazi) by next week ... I hope you dont mind but would you share the process that you do in treating your tank with prazi ? I just dont want to overdose or do it wrong and make things worse ... thanks !

I know nothing about rays but if you are using pure prazi med, it's pretty safe with any water creature bar the flat worms it treats, just go ahead. But using alcohol to dissolve it is another story. Other than that it's hard overdosing with it.
Can you not just try mixing it in some warm water first stirring vigorously. Then add it along the length of the tank. It will eventually dissolve.

ok cory loach. will not mix it with alcohol then ... you are right , bad idea .... thanks for your advice on the safety of prazi and mixing it with hot water ... will keep that in mind when I start the medication .... tks again ....

Dissolve in straight tank water. No need for alcohol or vodka. That ray looks pretty stout for not eating in 30 days......

tks shadowstryder. The ray is about 10 inches. Yeah the ray does not look sickly thin and i really do not know the reason why it is not eating. It could be because of stress. I also do not want to use any medication if it is not necessary. However since it has not really been eating for a long time already, am thinking of putting it in a separate tank to treat it with prazi ....
