Good morning / evening guys and girls of MFK
I thought this would be the best forum to go to for stocking ideas for a predatory tank since other forums didn't help much. (this is my first post and i put it in the most logical place on the forum)

I am getting a fish tank in 2/3 months and am looking at stocking it with predatory fish.
Also in my area there are frequent power outages ;( so i went for fish that can survive without aeration.

I will be using a submerged sump filter for this tank.

The tank size i want to go for is between 200L (+-50gal) and 300L(+-75gal)

list of stocking ideas

1. Based on research I believe this would be good in 220L (54Gal):
-2 Dwarf snakehead (Channa Gachua)
-1 Armoured Bichir (Polypterus Delhezi)

2. Can i keep this in a tank between 200-300L?
-2 Dwarf snakehead
-2 Armoured Bichir

3. -4 dwarf snakehead (2 pairs)

4. If you guys can suggest any African cichlids that would go with a pair of snakehead in a 200-300L please do
(snakehead are my priority

Could you guys please help me with a yes/no answer for each idea with extra info if possible

Hope it is not too much to ask/ too much info for one thread

regards, Hendre ;)

Hi channa gachua are temperate fish not tropical and will do best in a species only setup, 300l should be alright for a small group but best to check on the snakehead part of this forum.

OK thanks for the info bud, snakehead and bichirs can be kept together at 25°c but will look at a species only tank and the snakehead forum ;)

most dwarf snakeheads require a cool down period 18-20 each year

If snakeheads are legal where you live, you could consider the Rainbow Snakehead C.Belheri or C.Assam?

Would I need a bigger tank for those 2species?
Also there are availability issues with rainbows apparently

Yes snakeheads are legal here =)

I personally can't see a problem with keeping say a pair in a 75G, since my friend keeps a C.Belheri in his 50G without any problems, in fact, even looks a bit empty with only him in there...

OK thanks, 75gal is the biggest I can put on the unit with a sump. This forum helped a lot
