ive been feeding my jar crickets and roaches. . .but lately i saw this aro that eats fish pellets on a regular basis. . . So i decided to train my jar to eat pellets . . . . As for the moment im not feeding him anything to pursuade him to eat pellets. . .yesterday ive tried giving him flowerhorn pellets. . .but he's not even interested. . . . It hasnt eat anything for 5 days now. . .

How could i pursuade hin to eat commercial pellets and besides arowana pellets what possible types of pellet could my arowana eat?

how big is your jar
if it is too old then i doubt that you can make him eat pellets
what i did was
i started feeding earthworms first
used to throw one wait for the jar to finish and then throw the next one
then used ghost shrimp
after a few days fed him beef heart in the similar way
then threw dried shrimp he bit 'em but did not eat the first time
after a few days of alternating his food he at last accepted dried shrimp but couldn't get him to accept pellets

The quickest way is to just starve him for a few days.Try feeding him pellets. If he doesn,t take them ,remove them and try again the next day.Trust me, he will take them once he gets hungry enough.

I got luck with my silver.
Usually I used feeders, and tried a lot to make him eat pellets.
Then, I need to do a surgery in my back, stayed one week away from home and the more than one week without feeders.
When i turn back, I was feeding my BP when the silver just tried to eat some flakes, after that, he starts to eat pellets by himself.
As Koji told me, if he can choose what kind of food to eat, he'll be smart enough to don't die of starvation.

The only method is to starve it. Only intro pellet to it. When been fed with pellet and he refuse to eat, take them out and repeat the whole process the next day.

thanx its about 3-4 inches, its on the 6th day hunger strike he has a senegal bichir as tankmate whenever i feed my bichir sinking pellets i am always hoping that my jar would eat even a small amounts of pellet. . . but he doesn't like it. . . but I won't give up. . . it's been a battle between me and my jar whoever gives in first wins, but i won't give up. . . . neither he'll take the cichlid pellets or he'll starve himself to death. . .

GL. My old jar ate pellets for discus because it was kept with them. Until he jump out. =\ I haven't tried giving my new jar pellets yet, but he eats dried shrimp.

wait for it to at least get 6-7" before you start starving him

for the benefit of our friends here in MFK you wouldnt mind if I answer you in english. . . I want to train him to eat any kind of pellet possible although i have practically unlimited supply of crickets and roaches that i personally breed (I'm also into arachnoculture) i want to feed him all kinds of pellets to ensure nutrition variety. . . my theory is if I succeed in training him to eat flowerhorn pellets then all other pellets/feeders would be easily accepted by my aro. . . so I'm forcing him to eat this particular pellet so that in the future I would'nt have any problem regarding food availability since he would readily take any food I'll give him. . . so as much as possible I wouldn't give him any carnivore pellets. . . I know its possible because a friend of mine trained his asian aro to eat comercially available "tilapia" feeds by accident. . . since then he never got any problem giving his asian food because comercial feeds are readily available in any farm shops here in the philippines. . .
