Hey everyone, I just got a 5inch oscar from the lfs that was dumped on them with a ton of convict's as well, took a netful of the convicts and they eat like crazy, but the oscar won't eat a thing, tried shrimp, predator pellets and blood worms, any ideas on what he might like, he swims around the tank leaning to one side and rest's on the bottom a lot, is that just stress from a double move or is something wrong with him? Thanks!

how long have you had the oscar? How big is it compared to the convicts? and is it showing signs of stress like discoloration or is it getting beat up? Sounds like it could be just stress and it might start eating after afew days as long as it isnt getting beat up

What type of food are you using? If it was me, I'd stick with pellets and wait for your oscar to come around. If you try live food or frozen, it may get spoiled and then you may have to starve it to get it to eat pellets. A couple days of not eating after a transfer isnt unusual. Just keep an eye out for stress and give it some more time

if the oscar came in WITH the convicts, I'd be willing to bet that the owner was feeding baby cons to the O & he is used to live foods.

my husband absolutely ruined my O, although he ate pellets before I got him. now he is hooked on worms. it's rather humiliating. they can become VERY stubborn, but you could probably starve him out.
IMO it's easier if they have tankmates to compete with, for pellets. "monkey see, monkey do".

Good luck.
