Help! Oscar won't eat!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't worry about it starving... I mean really, how many stories are there out there about an OSCAR starving to death? lol
You need to just change his diet, and for me the best way to do that with an oscar is to wait several days before feeding him, and then feed him the desired food.
I mean, lets be real.. It's an oscar. Oscars and food go hand in hand. Just give it time and eventually he will eat whatever it is you offer to him out of desperation for food, until the new diet is just what he's used to.

my O (still growing age) has gone over 3 weeks with nary a bite, until he was just sitting in a bottom corner and getting pale. but it definitely IS due to humans caving in to him. when he starts looking weak, out come the worms.
all our other fish eat whatever is offered.
I am the feeding-failure of mfk [but blaming my husband...]

Try switching things up. Try carnivorous pellet foods and frozen foods until you find something he likes.
Once you have at least a couple items on his menu, it will become a whole lot easier to get him to eat new things.
My 13-14" Tiger Oscar is kept on a diet now of assorted pellets and occasional frozen shrimp&fish (About 2-3 times a month or so)

Just found him flopping around on the living room floor and his tank is in the dining room!

Sounds like its time for a good lid! Lol

sounds to me it's pouting because it was feed live food, and is a little stressed from the move, is it in a tank by itself it may also be lonely if it was kept with the Convicts before.
