I was wondering if anyone ever had their Pacu have a piece of gravel stuck deeply into the nostril.. for about a week now.. you can see the blue stone in the picture of him .. Should we take him out of the tank and use tweezers to take it out or should we leave it and hope it loosens automatically...

Thank you.. this is same guy who ate a clamp that holds the heater to the rubber suction cup, It passed through and actually got stuck in his Anus ..it was there for several days until i had to pull it out.. what we did was took water down, held him on bottom and pulled it out of him... he was in a 60 gal hexagon.. Then we kept him on Melafix for a couple of weeks.. {It was a clamp from a 300 watt heater...{big} so he is in trouble again...

mine bit all plastic away from the heater and filter wire, luckily it never got a shock (or me come to think of it) it ate all the plastic plants as well. I had to keep the new heater behind a perspex sheet in the tank corner.

Great fish tho!!!!!!!!!!

LOL.. I know but at the time we said he will either live or die..if we didn't do something and it was amazing how that huge piece of plastic could go all the way through and not tear up his organs as it went.. he is 21 inches long now... and 11 inches high.. and about 8 pounds in weight.. in a 220 gal with a whole bunch of other fish...so i think we better try some sedative as ROTTBO suggested.. not going to be fun..

Take the large siphon bell off the front of your Python.. Try to catch him off-guard and suck it out! If he starts trashing, get your big pond net out.. Catch him and 'hover' him an inch or two from the surface of the water on his side. Wait until he quits thrashing and calm down.. Then use the python and suck it out of his nose while hes still barely under water.. You might get a little wet, but atleast he wont get torn up like the tweezer idea.

*Edit- The lowering of the tank water and holding him down might be a better idea!
