Your specimen looks better than the pics in Planet Catfish.

Agreed! I predict his photos will be added there sometime soon!

I hope not those photos. I would definitely recruit my brother for some better quality pics to submit to PC.

And, yeah, I've been looking for adult pics and can't find much, either. I found a few platysilurus photos but can't be sure they are the correct species. And the difference in patterning between mine and the ones on PC is part of what lead me to ask about specific identifiers between the platysiluridae genus.

And now to give him a small water change...

PC is going toi be blessed to recieve better pics than the ones shown so far. I can't imagine.

Haha. If those are good pics, it's dumb luck. I'm a total camera n00b.

Oh, carp. That singular dot I saw was, indeed, ichthyopthirius.

Which do you think is better, Kordon Formalin 3 or Jungle Ich Gard II? They're both formalin but the Ich Guard II has Victoria Green as well.

Sorry I can't help too much, I haven't had Ich on my fish yet (knock on wood). Sounds like you caught it before it got serious.

I would use what would get the job done and be the least harmful to the fish.

Went with the formalin 3. Only at 75% dose and I dose daily with a 25% water change and cleaning the bottom to get the trophonts.

I'm actually considering moving him into one of my larger plastic tanks or perhaps the 60 gallon to give him more room to run. When I inserted his hidey tube I had to freeze solid because he fritzed and slammed into the walls for a second. Thankfully he calmed right down and I was able to put the tube in at a slug's pace, but if this is going to be a repeat act whenever I have to reach in there, it's not a favorable situation at all. I'm hoping he will hide in the tube and I can just vacuum around him.

Does anyone else own this catfish species and how is its care?

It has a nose!
