The API is useless? Did I waste my money on it or does it have any use at all?

"Aquarium salt" has limited usefulness... There are certain uses, and I believe there's a sticky in the diseases section.

Essentially yes, you did waste money, because you can go buy 50 pounds of solar salt at home depot for about the same price as your small container of API salt... And it's the same thing.

Alright... should I throw out the API salt? I'll try my locals for the Epsom salt, I expect I'm looking for something that is stated as being Epsom and doesn't have any other ingredients in it?

A lot of that goes over my head, to be honest. I'll just stick to following advice, and i'll try to find this other salt tomorrow when the stores are open. Is it okay to just soak the food and see how that goes first, or is there a sense of urgency here needing me to put lots of salt in the water? (1tsp per gallon, right?)

It usually comes in a plastic bag. Just ask if you can't find it. It should be at any big grocery store or any drug store like rite-aid, walgreens, etc.

It won't hurt to do both...

maybe... this is all with the very salt-sensitive loaches in mind, right? if it's just a "wouldn't hurt to" sort of thing maybe I'll just do the food first?

Is it okay to soak worms for this treatment? I have a bunch of wonderful little eel-mouth sized earthworms I'm sure they'd be happy about. (pretty sure the worms wont like the salt though, heh)

Is there anything I can use the API salt for? I wasn't really extracting that bit from the link you gave me >> I might just be tired... long day

When you hear about scaleless fish being sensitive to salt, that is referring to "aquarium" salt, not Epsom salt. Two different things, which I have tried to explain this whole thread.
The API salt... Some things off the top of my head: treating external parasites, minor wounds and scrapes, minor bacterial and fungal issues, and oddly enough it helps if you have nitrites in the tank (which you shouldn't, but should the need arise...).

Alright. Thanks for being patient with me. I get so nervous about my fish... if it really is totally harmless then I'll do the soaking and the water treatment. 1tps per gallon, and food/worm soaking whenever I feed, yes?

Thanks so much clockwork^^
