alright so i walk in to my fish room today and the slate i put in for my monos is covered in eggs, none are white, i have my two big monos, a big orino, a firemouth that im donating to a lfs today, and a 8 inch suncat in this tank, im already getting rid of my firemouth, and im trying to figure something out with my suncat, but im moving in ten days, and until then i cant set up any other big tanks

also i think the female is slowly eating the eggs, so time is an issue

my question is, is there anyway i can take the eggs out and keep them alive without disrupting my pair, cause i dont have anywhere for my orino or suncat as of now, and i dont want to leave the babies to chance if i have another choice

is there anyway i can do without a egg tumbler? really broke until i move. or is the anti fungal stuff and a tumbler absolutely necessary?

if i got rid of the firemouth, and lets the eggs be for now, do you think the parents will protect them good enough? and then ill just try to pull any wigglers i see?

all the eggs are adhesive, is there really no way to just pull the slate covered in eggs and keep them alive?

well i covered the 2 intakes near the eggs and got rid of the firemouth

but really only one 1 person has any exp with this on this whole forum?

Contact Odd ball one of the mods that guy is pretty knowlable on alot of fish cichlids would be one i think.Thats awsome:headbang2:headbang2

get a bucket (or other big container) and scoop up the slate carefully without damaging the eggs.
that way the eggs will never be out of the water.
just put an air stone at the base of the slate and it just act like current over the eggs.

There's only a few OG Cichla keepers that have spawned them in captivity. Many of the new keepers will not be able to help you. You're best chance for success is to use Joey's breeding log as guide lines as it has proven itself time and time again till he got out of the hobby.

i dont think so, the female did a great job protecting them, but she didnt fan them enough, but oh well, i will be prepared next time, and it was only their second spawn, their still young, and they obviously still have a lot to learn, very exciting though
