Ok so got my tank today! :) http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/for/1506972060.html here is the tank I got.

Ok so I talked to my LFS and they said if I was going to do coal/fish I would need to take the bio balls out and put live rock in the back where the bio balls are??? Second it came with sand I took the sand out and cleaned the tank out. Can I put the sand back in and will I be ok or should I add new sand?

Thanks for your help.

Saltwater or freshwater?

Depends on the sand you had. I'm assuming that you mean a coral/fish tank. These can be tricky just to warn you as you can not use most meds in a coral tank. The sand should be crushed coral sand or some version there of, aragonite is one of the trade names. If that's what you have then just rinse it well. You will need live rock for both filtration and to attach the coral to. I can't tell how large the tank is since craigslist is blocked.

I'm guessing you mean coral and fish, so your post is in the wrong place. You should post under the Marine and Brackish forum.

It sounds like you need to read up a bit before setting up your tank and I'd recommend finding a new LFS. Why they would tell you to put live rock where the bio balls go makes no sense at all.

yeah i am not sure what sand is in the tank.

the tank is a 55 sea clear.

I am going to set it up as saltwater.

sorry for posting in here though it was the right place for it!!

looking at the aragonite online it looks just like it. so i would think it might be it guess i can try it if it crashes then its time for a redo lol

thanks going to buy some vinegar when the wife gets here.

what do you think about maken your own saltwater? or should I say the hell with it and buy ocean water from my LFS at .75 c a gallon?
