ive got a piece of mopani wood in my tank.its got the white slime stuff on it.i dont want to take it out and scrub it... wat kinds of fish like to eat it? im sitting here waiting to go to my lfs so i can get some lol so hurry with the suggestions!

Buy a fish because you're interested in it and you want it, not because it will eat something growing in your tank.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago with a new piece of river driftwood. The stuff looks like a clear/whitish gel-probably fungus...I tried Pimafix first, with no luck. I then pulled the wood and soaked it outside in bleach water, in the sun, for a couple of days then soaked in rinse water for a week or so. The stuff came back soon after returning it to the tank. I added several dozen ghost shrimp, a CAE and two BNs. Somebody ate it. It disappeared and has not returned. I give credit to the shrimp. Good Luck.

u could probably boil the wood. i always boil the wood for awhile before it goes into a tank. i always buy dry wood though so its mostly for the water color. of course if its a huge piece that may not work

Sorry the shrimp didn't last. I still believe they'll do the job if you could get them safe access to it for a few days. That slimey stuff had covered probably 2/3 of my driftwood and it was approx. 1/2" thick. It's fairly large @ 24"x 26"x 8". It was only on that particular piece though, even with other wood in the tank. I tried boiling water on mine also. It didn't solve the problem. After adding the shrimp, CAE & BN it was gone in just a couple of days. I actually put them in for algae control, as it was a fairly new setup. I had just given up and decided to leave the gel/slime cause I wasn't going to wrestle that piece of wood again but I noticed it was "magically" gone one day.

That white fungas stuff forms on lots of different kinds of wood. It goes away on it's own whether you add fish to "eat it" or not. To my knowledge there's no kind of fish that eats it.
