Hello I was in my LFS the other day looking around and i saw in one of the tanks was some sort of lobster and there was a sign saying the name $150 and then super agressive! I talked to the guy that works at the store and he recamends that i go with about a 20 gallon tank for is as it cant be housed with any other fish.

so long story in short i am thinking about getting it but i forgot the name of the lobster and also this will be my first saltwater set up what do you recommend i get for the tank. please someone help!

Name and pictures will help a lot.

I recommend posting this thread in the "Rocks / Corals / Inverts" sub-forum of the "Marine and Brackish" forum; you'll have a better chance of getting the help you need there.

$150 for a lobster? It better know how to do tricks and play fetch :D jk jk Pictures please :)

Super agressive eh...I bet you it's a Peacock Mantis Shrimp, Odontodactylus scyllarus. Even if it's a huge adult, 150 bucks is really expensive. Does it look like this?

to the original poster, are you really considering your first salt experience being with a 150 buck invert? you should probably get the hang of it with something cheaper then work your way up

it doesnt look like that it looked as if it had little hairs almost all over it

and i am sorry i dont have pictures:(

A pistol for 150 bucks? A mantis is the only invert I can think of that warrants a special caution warning, as well as an expensive price.
