In The Jungle
I have a problem, already lost 2 ropefish. Their slime coat seemd to have been coming off and they looked darker and slick on mmost of their bodies. I did several daily water chages of 30% for 3 days and added api conditioner and salt.

Even with this they died by the 3rd day. Now i see white somewhat puffy looking areas on my delhzi, ornate and hybrid polys. Aslo and a retro which i introduced the day before the ropefish died (signs were present prior to the new fish introduction).

Amo 0, Nitates 0, nitrites 0, ph 7.0 for the last month or more. I did however skip a water change a few weeks back befor ethis all happend. But only because my levels were as stated above.

Aside from this issue in my 40 breeder i am now seeing cloudy eyes and stringy slime in my 125gallon with larger polys and clown and achara cat. Not everyone is affected but i see something creeping up. IN the 125 amo, 0, nitrates and nitrites off the chart a week ago but has since gone down to the next color from 0 after daily 25% water changes, salt and conditioner.

WHAT IS IN MY TANK? My concern is that i purched a gallon of API conditioner but the expiration date was mysteriously scrated off towards the end of the exp year. It reads: 02/20** and i dunno if it expired 2 months ago. Will this be eating away at slime coats or be causing the mysterious fuzziness on my fish?

I am medicating the 40 breeder with Mardel Maroxy. since is looks like a fungus and the 125, i removed the clown knife and have him in a 10 gallon hospital tank treating with Melafix. I am 3 days into treatment and i see little improvement.

WHAT CAN I DO TO NOT LOOSE ALL MY FISH?!??!??! Arghhhhhhh!!!

Dam sorry man, im not sure whats wrong with them, but if i was you i will stop all the meds and add some charcoal to remove the rest of it. Then i will only add salt to the tank and see what happens, i have personally lost allot of fish due to using the wrong meds, and now i dont trust any meds!!!!!

GoodLuck, im sure some ppl here will no exactly wats wrong and can give u better advise and help.

Could be the work of plecos, I could be wrong

All plecos have been removed about a month ago. And it looks like a cottony substance on head and around gills. Ive been trying salt when i first saw sign with no improvement. Im all out of salt but will be buying more today..

40breeder readings: ph 7.0, ammona 0ppm, Nitrate 0ppm and nitrite 0ppm. Temp set at 82F. This tank ALWAYS has perfect readings.

125 gal ph 7.2, ammonia 0ppm, Nitrate +5ppm, Nitrite 160 ppm.

These were my reults a few days ago before I did last water change. Will test again tonight when i get home from classes.

The clown knife on melafix has cleared up eyes and white coloration has gone away.

On day 4 or melafix for clown and days 4 of maroxy (for fungus) on 40 breeder with small polys. Everyone else in 125 looks okay for now.

I think its because tank's ammonia/nitrite,
I would do huge water changes to correct water parameters. Cloudy eyes could be due to ammonia burn. how long has your tank been setup?

125 has only been up for about 2 months but i transfered basteria from previous setup into filter during move. Checked my levels in the 125 tonight and all is at or very close to 0 (nitrates nitrites ammo) and ph 7.0. Added more salt. everyone seems ok so far. Still see some cloudy eyes.

40 breeder looks the same. still white cloudy stuff on polys, added bubble last night.

10gallon holding the clown knife is with melafix day 3, BAD. his bottom side is all red and hes kinda floating and sinking. Added bubbler tonight and tons of salt.... ARGGGG.

First off how could u have ammona 0ppm, Nitrate 0ppm and nitrite 0ppm. One of those has to have a number and i aint saying which. Second Stop adding stuff and u dont know what the problem is cause u could be doing more harm then good. Third until u find out whats going on just up the temp somewhere around the 80's and add salt in MODERATION. Good luck and look thru the stickies for help to identify whats going on.
