The tanks been cycled for a year now and i have used the same dechlorinator and did not forget to use it this time did everything like i usually do, its weird.

So what are the numbers your water testing kit gives right now?

The Mayan may have brought in a parasite that 'it' is immune to, and your others are susceptible to. (the scratching could be a clue)
Mayans are very tough and can handle diverse conditions many other cichlids can't. It may be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Laying on side is NEVER a good sign...nor is it reversible...maybe

Not necessarily, Oscars will do this sometimes when you mess with their environment. All it is is them pouting but that is not necessarily the case here.

^^^^Laying in the sand with clamped fins might also be a sign of late stage Ich or Gill Flukes, when the fish is simply too weak to swim around... but if it's ich you would have noticed the white spots covering the whole fish already.

Do you have a kit to test for water parameters? It seems not since you haven't posted em yet.

hey guys just got bk frm wrk i noticed 1 if the jags eyes have turned white and the RD just flew around the tank quivering im headed out to get a water testing kit at the moment.

cloudy eye is sometimes caused by poor water quality, malnutrition and bacterial infections. this would also make a fish lethargic. get the kit (a liquid kit, not the strips) and post the results... my bet is they are the cause. What's your water change schedule?

This is the reason I QT any new fish I get.
I skipped it a few times & paid the cost, I hate loosing fish because I was too eager to see them in the "big tank".

Patience is the key to everything.
IMO QT'n a fish is a must, some ppl don't agree.
The fewer fish I loose the better it is on my wallet, & the fish I keep.
If you need any meds, it's much easier(cheaper) to treat your smaller QT tank than it is your main tank(s).
I really don't see any cons to QT'n new fish.

Just my $0.02

I hope your fish recover from this.
