the reson i belive my amonia/nitrite/nitrate were so high was because 2 days ago i found a cory cat wedged in a log. but other than that i dont over feed him and yes im new to fish keeping
you should really get one of the api liquid dropper test tube thing kits for testing your water. I know its not cheap but its cheaper than all you will spend on fixing problems with sick fish. Plus you will be able to tell people here or any other fish site for certain what your water is testing at. When you get some extra funds just go for it. DOnt waste it on the paper test strips, I hear they are not very accurate.

jungle makes sum fungal stuff that may help it is yellow in collor think you may be able to get at wal mart if not at lfs had this prob before didnt turn out to well for me in cen am cichlids have helped africans though is what i would try sorry for your fissh that sucks

im 16 and i have a job. this is the biggest tank i have up and running for now i have been in the hobby for all most a year now but i have just made some careless mistakes
its cool bud just keep learning. Research things you dont even think you will have to deal with your fish, someday you might and you can be on top of it. Ive been out of the hobby for about 4-5 years, but had tanks for over 15 years and always kept and bred reptiles, still learn things everyday. Just keep some cash on the side for times like this lol.
