You cannot tell unless you vent the fish or see the tube.
Any guess here is just that, a guess.

lol, best pic I could take on short notice???
no, I mean....I think 2 holes means "male", 1 hole means female, but IDK...i'm just starting to learn venting. It certainly doesn't have the physical appearance of a male, IMO, but who knows when it comes to Amphs. I just got lucky enough my Amphs were always obvious to sex by appearance

Thx, definitely acts male, it dominates the tank, once in awhile gets into a scuffle with my Red Tex, but would like to know for sure, thx again for your help!

lol female Amphs do the exact same thing though.....The way I see it, and it's just IMO, if there is a "male" Amph as tank boss and he doesn't have a hump, it's probably not a male considering even some FEMALE Amphs will get a hump if they end up being the dominant fish.

lol As far as helping, i'm only 50/50 on it tbh :( It LOOKS more like a female to me, but the vent says otherwise unless i'm totally missing something

I had a dominant midas and was the biggest and baddest of the group I grew out. Ended up being a female and laid eggs
