He was sold to me as a vented male. I saw this yesterday and was worried that it was a female. I thought they were the only ones that did that. I made a thread on here and someone cleared that up. I was very relieved that he's a male and it is normal. My first lab, great fish.

Even his head profile looks male at that young age which is why i believed your other fish looked female. I'm not an expert by anyones stretch of imagination but the females seem to even look girlier if you know what i mean. If you had a pair in a tank together the differences are obvious.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but are you sure this is normal? There's a bulge above it now.
