alright what is with you BIGgourami on all of the threads you post on. you say two posts in a row and the second one usually isnt really needed to be said. they are both within a minute sometimes the same minute! just edit it!

thats a pretty sad thing to do just for a post count. so could you please stop!
   if BG wants to be a post whore let him:ROFL:    oh yeah i think the JD is a male, i believe females have gills covered with more blotches than the males do sorry the pics are not good but bottom fish in pic#1 is a male and the other is female

I would say male. The biggest giveaway with a Jack Dempsey is the gill plate. The males will have less blue spotting on the lower portion of the plate. The females tend to have a lot of blue spotting on the lower portion of the gill plate. It may even be so heavily spotted so as to look solid blue.

That said, the only 100% positive way to tell is to vent the fish.

I agree. My female has spots all over the bottom half of her gill plate too. And her body isn't colored up much yet either. She's 5 1/2" now but starting to color up on the sides. Yours has much more color on its sides.

Beautiful fish! Looks like you take great care of her! :D

i would say a male but i had one once that looked like that and it turned out to be female!!! nice fish anyhow:D
