Help sexing a Jack Dempsey

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice, just a heads up since I know you can't upgrade the tank size, but texas cichlids and green terrors would both need a 75 gallon tank, and probably wouldn't work together in the same one. I would be looking to re-home the texas and GT asap unless you can set up more tanks or a larger tank in the next few months. I wouldn't keep them all in a 55 past about 6".

I will be rehoming them when they get a little bigger. They are both close to about 4 inches. The Dempsey is 4.5. If I move this year and don't resign the lease I can look into upgrading to a larger tank which I would love to do.

Lol I know they get big. This all started with a betta in a 5 gallon

Haha, that is always how it starts, & somewhere it spirals out of control. I would expect your texas to grow an inch every month or two, GT a bit slower. At 4" now, I'd say you probably have 4 months before it really becomes necessary to re-home. But I'd be careful letting it go too long, even if it seems calm things can change over night. I'd say smallest tank you could keep all these fish together in would be a 125 gallon, if you plan on upgrading.

The Texas was a bit of an impulse buy. I know my bad. And the GT was a gift. The Dempsey was really my main goal. Her and my pleco
