Definitely male, but after 1 year your jag should be well over 5 inches. What are you feeding him? He looks stressed, does he have any other tank mates?

He got a electric blue Accra 3.5" and a pair of convicts 1" I've also had a hard time getting him to eat lately I was thawing some talapia for him.
