if he starts feeding well, look into a good pellet. new life, aqueon, HBH all make a good cichlid pellet. get floaters not sinkers.

He looks like a juvenile & not a yr old. He should be around 8-10". Whats the water parameters like?

He dominates the tank but the only food he wants to eat is the catfish food.

I really don't know how old he is I got him from a sketchy lfs who said he was an green terror

Ok well that could explain a lot. Feed him more catfish food and try to convert him to a quality cichlid pellet as pops suggested. All these members have had valuable input. He looks unhealthy. I would also monitor poop for internal parasites.

do you use a test kit? or a test strips? API master fresh water test kit being the prefered.

they asking what is your water perams, ammonia, nitrite,nitrate and PH.
