HELP! SNAIL PROBLEMS

if your not overfeeding they shouldnt keep breeding in mass numbers. i like snails. they are very helpful to my tank. if you want to get rid of them get a dead plant and put in the tank overnight. boiled lettuce or something. the snail will cover that in no time. just take it out. after a few times of that a lot less snails. no need for copper no need for salt no need to break the tank down.
 
YOYO Loaches will work. give them a try. I have 3 that took care of the snails I got with some plants. They left the biggest one alone tho for some reason, but wiped out the small ones FAST. A friend had a snail problem in a guppy tank and put one YOYO in there and they were gone in a week. they methodically cleaned every leaf on every plant for days...very cool little fish. If they chew at your plants throw in an algae wafer or two and they'll forget all about the plants

They're great for cleaning the hard to reach spots in tanks as well. Just dont know if you will have a place for them when their job is done. I'll take em'

I had no luck with a loach... but i did have massive luck. 25 full of snails and added a pair of not feed cons in and wam it was gone the next day. A few Cichlids like snails.. u just have to find out which ones... im planning to put a pair in my planted tank next time i make one.

Very cool I never knew that about cichlids. :headbang2

What others eat them? Anybody know?
 
If you don't want to buy any more fish for your tank to clear up the snail problem, all you do is, tie a piece of zucchini or squash to the bottom of a plastic cup and maybe a couple of rocks to hold it down and overnight the snails will congregate on the pieces of veggies and take the cup out and throw them away. If you need to do it again, do it!
I personally have never had any luck with any of my fish eating the snails that I used to have in my tank. Make sure to check for snail eggs, they lay them EVERYWHERE!!!

Loaches seem to be the natural cure, there are chemicals that can be used.
 
Couple of pea puffers would work too if you have only tropical fish, but they can hold their own if they need to,
 
To control the snails in my 300g planted tank I have Kabotia Botias (Polkadot Loaches). I have the Loaches because I like them, not for snail control. I do not recommend Clown Loaches unless you want them, have a large tank and plan on getting 5 or more. One Clown Loach will not take care of a snail problem because they are a schooling fish and feels very insecure and will get very aggressive if left alone. I also see my Apistos and Blue Rams eating snails.
