The frontosa atacked the dovii back the dovii then took it it as a territorial matter and showed he rules everything dovii kill dontg let anyone say they are peaceful ever even in 210 gallon

Well I can't say the sales guy at the LFS pitched it as the dovii will be peaceful. More like "The dovii will know it can't fit the jardini in it's mouth and will just kinda let it be" My theory is that it will still attack and kill it even if it can't eat it whole. The frontosa didn't fit in it's mouth whole but it's face certainly did.

.......He said worst case scenario if they're fighting take out the Jardini and bring it back but he's never heard of a Dovii even one at 20 inches killing a Jardini.
He's never heard of it bcuz most people aren't stupid enough to drop one in a dovii's tank- and right after a massacre ?

You ruined the balance of your tank is what happened. Plus why would you put anything with a 18 inch Dovii.

If anything once you have an established tank you either leave it be or if you do add fish add target fish like Silver Dollar or Tinfoil Barbs. The last thing you want to add is another cichlid.

I think one male dovii should have a 300 gallon aquarium for itself. i think a female should have 240 gallons for herself. i think a pair needs at least 400 gallons. So you should get at least 350 for your current stock.

LOL! Females very rarely hit 12 inches let alone 14 so a 125 is sufficient. And a male does fine in a 240.

Hey sorry for the bump, gotta ask a question before my roommate goes and makes a horrible decision. And yes IMO this is a horrible call,

Anyway he's been pretty bummed about loosing 2/3 of his stock (really 3/4) and still wants to add fish. I'm saying either give the Dovii away (which he won't) or accept it's gonna live by itself. Anyway, as stated once before the tanks 210G just to keep in mind. Anyway we tripped down to the LFS and saw they got in a new Jardini (you can see where I'm going here) its 15" right now and the guy said it'll grow to 24" and is fine in a 210G with a tank mate. I told him it was a Dovii that just went off on everything it's ever lived with. He said worst case scenario if they're fighting take out the Jardini and bring it back but he's never heard of a Dovii even one at 20 inches killing a Jardini. I think it's a risk and waste of money but what are some opinions here? Would adding that large of a Jardini to a 210 tank with a newly pyscho Dovii just asking for a disaster or could they tolerate one another?

Your roommate sounds like a very irresponsible person IMHO. Look if he is set on having more fish he needs to get rid of the Dovii!
If he does that then pst me and I can give you some great options.
One for example could be a Male Jaguar (only cichlid) and a school of Silver Dollars and Tinfoil Barbs to fill the tank.
Your roommate would have a gorgeous showpiece along with other fish so that your tank doesn't look empty.

I would seriously wonder if the people at the lfs are trying to see how much money they can get out of you guys, or if they're just too stupid to work there. The only other fish you could put with that dovii is a female dovii. Then you will have little angry baby doviis, which I am thankful would not be my problem!
You are offering a death sentence to anything else you put in that tank.

Sorry with how late this is, talked him out of buying anything else Simba's settled down considerably too doesn't act nearly as aggressive towards us as he was.
